Who I am
From crochet hobby to my own patterns
I'm Cora, the crocheter behind Haakje op de Hei. I design crochet patterns for amigurumi cuddly toys, preferably using soft, fluffy yarns like chenille, faux fur and fuzzy yarn.
For me, crocheting is relaxing, and above all, it's just fun. Those two things together, calm and enjoyment, are exactly why I started designing. I wanted to create patterns I'd love to crochet myself, with room for your own choices in yarn, colour and finishing touches.
Every pattern is designed, written out and tested before it goes out into the world.
Besides my patterns, I crochet myself too: cuddly toys, snugglers and rattles, for sale or made to order. That way anyone can have a crocheted cuddly toy, even if you don't crochet yourself.
Testing for others
I love testing for other designers too
Besides my own patterns, I regularly crochet test patterns for other designers, including @icrocheta, @amapolasbabyshop, @_mishka_toys_, @mjfcrochet, @sweet.little.buddies and @sprinkleofcrochet. It keeps me discovering new techniques, and I get to see how other designers build up their patterns before they go out into the world.
I love working with all kinds of yarn, especially soft, fluffy ones like chenille, faux fur and fuzzy yarn. That extra bit of softness makes a cuddly toy even nicer to hold. That's also how I ended up crocheting a 90 centimetre mandala for my window, using a pattern by kimhaakt.
